Ashley Cimino at Women’s Wellness Massage
Many of you reading this are likely struggling with infertility or know someone who is. Although fertility challenges can seem isolating, it’s far from uncommon. I would like to give you some insight into a massage therapy specialty that most women don’t yet know about.
Fertility Massage is a unique and effective massage protocol, including fertility awareness, cleansing therapies and visualizations, developed by Claire Marie Miller. As one of Claire’s students, I have become certified and now specialize in Fertility Massage, along with Prenatal Massage and Reflexology. I have since opened my own massage studio in the Brier Creek Neighborhood of North Raleigh. I have been a licensed Massage Therapist since 2010 and truly love helping women achieve their wellness goals. I have designed Women’s Wellness Massage to help women who are looking to consciously conceive and to guide them through the stages of a healthy pregnancy. My goal is to provide women with a safe and comfortable place to improve their well being throughout their life cycle, with the assistance of massage therapy.
Who Should Receive Fertility Massage?
Massage Therapy is one the best ways to achieve deep relaxation and stress relief. Massage is also a great alternative to alleviating pain and tension within the body. Fertility Massage is highly recommended for women who are preparing to conceive with conscious awareness, using assisted reproductive technology, such as IUI, IVF or supplementation and want the support to open their bodies to the energy associated with conception.
What Should You Expect During a Fertility Massage?
Let me explain why Fertility Massage is different from a typical massage. Your session will begin with a relaxing castor oil pack applied to your abdomen. This aids in cleansing the digestive system. Calming and gentle cranial-sacral holds will be used for balance and centering. A cranial-sacral hold is when one hand is placed at the base of your head and neck and the other hand is placed under your sacrum near the lower back. During this time, visualization techniques will be used for opening the conception channel and you can also take this time to have your own quiet thoughts. A relaxing head, neck, shoulder and arm massage will help release stress and tension. Shiatsu or acupressure points, down the legs will lead to Reflexology, pressure points on the feet, in order to stimulate reproductive areas, endocrine glands and the digestive system. Many clients find Reflexology to be more relaxing than an actual Swedish Massage.
This is followed by deep pelvic work in order to help increase blood flow to all of the pelvic organs. This is performed over a sheet in order to make the client more comfortable. Pelvic work is very calming and will not be painful. Next, the castor oil pack will be removed and you will roll over onto your stomach. Shiatsu points, focused on the back, will increase energy throughout the reproductive areas. Before, during and after your Fertility Massage you will receive fertility wisdom such as, knowledge about ovulation schedules, nutrition, and awareness for potential conception. Fertility Massage also includes specific aromatics for optimal hormonal therapy, including geranium, ylang-ylang and clary sage.
When Should You Receive Fertility Massage?
It is best NOT to receive a Fertility Massage when you are menstruating or possibly pregnant. However, you can schedule as many treatments as you’d like in-between menses and ovulation. Other forms of massage therapy, including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Prenatal and Reflexology may be scheduled at any time.
