The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to Carolina Conceptions Embryology/Andrology Laboratory, Raleigh, North Carolina, based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP’s Accreditation Programs. The U.S .federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government’s own inspection program.

During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.

CAP Inspectors advised Carolina Conceptions Laboratory Director, Sung Tae Kimn, PhD, HCLD (ABB), of this national recognition and congratulated his team for the excellence of the services being provided. “This lab is running very well. The level of communications and lab personnel are very good. The data and equipment are also well maintained.”

Dr. Kim is very proud of this recognition for Carolina Conceptions and appreciates the hard work his team of embryologists and andrologists put in every day to make families a reality for couples struggling with infertility. “Thanks to the great efforts of the lab and medical staff,” he shared. “We are trying to maintain the highest level of service for our patients.”

Carolina Conceptions physician, Dr. John Park, also commented on the accreditation, “We are very pleased that our lab passed the recent CAP inspection.  It is reassuring to us and our patients that our lab meets or exceeds the high standards set by CAP, as this translates into better patient outcomes with the treatments we offer at Carolina Conceptions.”

The Carolina Conceptions Embryology/Andrology Laboratory is one of over 7,700 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
