The December issue of the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology reported on national trends and outcomes from 391,662 frozen embryo donation cycles (previously known as embryo “adoption” cycles) between the years 2000-2013.
Dr. Meyer notes that the increasing availability of donor embryos is evidenced by the fact that in 2000, only 332 transfers from donor embryo were performed nationally. In 2013, 1,374 donor embryo transfers were completed. From 2007 – 2013, live birth rates from frozen donor embryo cycles were nationally at 38.2%.
For comparison, the live birth rate in 2015 for the 29 women who completed frozen donor embryo transfers at Carolina Conceptions was 51.7%. Embryo donation continues to be an excellent option for building families.
