At Carolina Conceptions Fertility, patients will sometimes need to source genetic material from a “third party” in order to achieve pregnancy. During your consultation, we can create a plan with you and guide you through the necessary steps based on your needs and goals.
There are various ways that third party donations can be incorporated into your care, depending on your goals and fertility.
You can select donor sperm from a national sperm bank, or have sperm donated by a loved one such as a friend or family member.
Patients can select a donor from our private egg donor database, where they can view photos of potential donors, review their medical history, physical traits, education, and interests. Patients can also choose a family member or friend to donate eggs. National egg donor banks are another option. Regardless of what choice you make, Carolina Conceptions Fertility can provide all IVF services.
After a consultation, those intending to use a donor embryo will be matched with an embryo in our bank to be transferred through IVF.
Carolina Conceptions Fertility has our own Gestational Carrier program, but couples are also welcome to use a GC from an outside agency, or use a friend/family member as their GC. It’s important to remember, a Gestational Carrier is someone who has no genetic link to the embryo that she receives and carries. Someone who does have a genetic link to the embryo is called a Surrogate.
Surrogates can be relatives or friends, or patients can choose one from our list of women who have been pre-screened.
