Dr. Billy Kim, Ph.D., TS, HCLD, was promoted to IVF lab director in 2022 after working as the embryology technical supervisor at Carolina Conceptions Fertility. He is certified as a technical supervisor (TS) through the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB). He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in science and a doctoral degree in animal reproductive science at the Kangwon National University in South Korea.
Supported by a National Institutes of Health (NIH) training grant in reproductive sciences, he completed his post-doctoral research and fellowship at the University of California San Diego Medical Center’s Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the department of reproductive medicine.
Dr. Kim has studied regulation of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis on reproductive endocrinology (related to the development and regulation of the reproductive system). He has published research papers on the role of oxidative stress in gonadotropin release hormone signal pathway (part of the hormone system that signals key parts of the reproductive process). He has published over 22 research papers in the field of reproductive biology.
Dr. Kim worked as an embryologist at Houston Fertility Institute in Texas as a senior embryologist before joining Carolina Conceptions Fertility. He is highly skilled in all aspects of IVF procedures, including egg cryopreservation and trophectoderm biopsy for PGT-A (preimplantation genetic testing).
