Carolina Conceptions Fertility is looking for women aged 19-31 who are interested in egg donation. This roughly two-week commitment earns you monetary compensation while allowing us to make a patient’s dream of parenthood come true!
Egg donation enables a woman to use eggs from another woman to get pregnant through in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Individuals or couples may choose to use an egg donor because of egg-related fertility issues.
Give the gift of family, and make a lasting difference.
Every year, we see patients who need the help of an egg donor to make their dream possible. As an egg donor with Carolina Conceptions Fertility, you can change someone’s life while learning more about your own reproductive health and receiving generous compensation for your time and commitment.
To ensure safety and the highest quality care, our egg donors must meet certain Egg Donor Requirements:
Age between 19 and 31
In good physical and mental health
Non-smoker, no recreational drug use
Reliable and able to attend appointments at their nearest Carolina Conceptions office over the course of ~2 weeks
Donors from diverse backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply so that we may serve a variety of patients in the best way possible.Â
If you are ready to start the donation process, all you need to do is complete the application! The application should take roughly 30 minutes to complete.
Apply! If your application is approved, we automatically will pay you $100.
Next, we will arrange for you to get basic psychological and medical health screenings. You will be compensated $400 for taking the time to do this.
Once the screenings are approved, you will enter our donor database, where our patients can review an anonymized version of your profile alongside our other donors. If you are selected as a donor, we will contact you in order to start the process.Â
This means even if you were never selected for donation, you will still earn compensation totaling to $500!
Our staff will be with you from start to finish, answering questions and making sure you feel comfortable and supported during the process. Here is a quick run-down of what the process looks like for the average donor:
After taking birth control for a couple weeks, the donor will begin taking a daily self-injectable medication to stimulate egg growth for 10-14 days.Â
During this time, the donor will have 4-6 visits to one of our offices for brief ultrasounds and bloodwork so that we can track their cycle.
This is an in-office procedure completed under light IV anesthesia (similar to the kind you’d get for a colonoscopy or wisdom tooth removal). The procedure usually takes under 30 minutes and involves no downtime. Patients report some cramping/soreness afterwards but are almost always able to return to work and daily activities the next day! For this appointment, donors will need someone to accompany them to the office and take them home afterwards.
After the completed donation cycle, the donor will receive the rest of their $7,000 compensation!
If interested, the donor can opt to immediatley complete another cycle, or wait as long as they would like. For a second cycle, compensation totals to $7,500. From this point, all following cycles (until the 6 cycle limit is reached) will be awarded with $8,000 in compensation.
Yes! Your donor profile seen by intended parents will have some photos of you as a child and an adult on our private database to help them choose a donor, but we require these photos to not be on public social media and all of your other identifying information is kept anonymous. If you’d like, we can notify you if your recipient gets pregnant! Totally up to you though.
Additionally, egg donors do not have legal parental rights or responsibilities for any child born from their donation. Legal agreements ensure the intended parent(s) are the child’s only legal guardians.
Many women want to, and are fully capable of carrying a healthy pregnancy, but their eggs are not healthy enough to form an embryo to carry. This is usually due to a woman wanting to wait until her 30's-40's to get pregnant, or the result of an illness like receiving chemotherapy for cancer. With a donor egg, a mother still has the opportunity to carry a pregnancy and give birth, while also having control over the source of donated sperm.
Donor eggs can also be transferred to a surrogate or gestational carrier for same-sex male couples.
Don’t worry! You were born with millions of eggs, and the eggs you donate were already going to be naturally discarded during your cycle! Additionally, complications and severe side effects are very rare. There is always a level of risk associated with any medication or procedure, but all of the medications and procedures you would have are considered very low-risk. Our medical staff will always be monitoring you to ensure your well-being, and they will also review all of the risks with you and answer any questions you have!
With some flexibility in your schedule, it is possible to have minimal conflict with your commitments. Monitoring visits will typically be in the mornings, but can be all days of the week, including weekends. These visits will also be short, usually about 15 minutes.
You shouldn’t plan on attending class/work on the day of your Egg Retrieval, but you will typically be able to resume your usual activities the next day
It is absolutely expected to have some hesitation about medications and procedures! We understand it is a lot to go through, which is why compensation is so important for us to provide to donors.
However, donors and other patients who undergo these steps almost always find it manageable and not difficult. Our nurses will walk you through how to administer the injectable medications (and yes, the needle is pretty small!) until you feel confident.Â
Side effects of the medications are temporary and often mild, being similar to period symptoms. While donors may experience some bloating, these medications are not known to cause true weight gain.Â
The egg retrieval would be the biggest physical step in the process, but even this is a quick ~15 minute procedure. The donor will be completely asleep under a light form of anesthesia, and then will wake up soon afterwards. Most people will be a bit sleepy or hazy when waking up, but there should not be pain. Soreness, cramping, and mild bleeding may develop as medications wear off - but this should not be significant and should be well managed with basic pain reliever medicines.Â
We understand this is a huge commitment, and both we and our patients are incredibly grateful for your generosity that can change their lives. This being said, patients who need donor eggs have likely been through a lot of heartbreak. Because of this, we ask that you be completely committed to this process once you begin, so that this pattern does not continue for these intended parents.
Using donor eggs with IVF is one of the most successful fertility treatments for those with egg quality issues. Patients may consider using donor eggs with IVF due to diminished ovarian reserve, poor egg quality or other egg-related fertility issues. Same-sex male couples using a gestational carrier may also benefit from donor eggs. Patients may choose an approved donor through our online database.
