Since that time, Dr. Meyer has been terrific, from the transfer through both our ultrasounds (though I think my notebook of questions scared him a bit more than it did you!). ? The nurses and staff have also been so friendly and caring and competent – it truly was the most nurturing medical environment I have ever been in. It made me so sad to leave you all today, feeling like I have to leave this protective cocoon where I have an entire team of wonderful people rooting me on. And of course, we cannot say enough about Michelle, our embryologist, who created our baby and took good care of our little embryos for their first few days. She is like our angel!

We will certainly keep in touch, and hope very much to have some wonderful news to share with you in late September!

I am now 12 weeks & 4 days, and hoping the morning sickness, which is all day sickness really, will be winding down soon. Other than that, it’s been wonderful so far – little Baby B. is growing like a weed, and I just saw him/her again this morning on an ultrasound, moving around, waving arms and legs and even sucking his/her thumb. SO amazing!!! All my blood tests have been perfect, and the NT scan & 1st trimester screening were completely normal. My due date is April 21, 2011, and not sure how many updates I’ll be sending you guys between now and then, but I am hoping for another 6 months of successfully being pregnant (hey, just BEING pregnant is a huge accomplishment for us!!) and a healthy little baby at the end of it all.

My patients were very appreciative of you and said you had a terrific manner about you, which I knew they would. I thought it especially noteworthy that the patients wanted me to inform you of their miscarriage, only because they thought you would care. In my experience patients don’t always have that impression about doctors. I think you made a genuine impression on them. Also, I really appreciated the phone call you made to our office, as well. That kind of personal touch is definitely not the rule.

We would travel across the country for CC but we are lucky to have them a few mins from home! “My husband and I went for our second round of IVF at CC this past fall. We have a 22 month old daughter that we conceived at CC after a frozen transfer so we have had plenty of experience with all of the staff at CC. I cannot say enough positive things about the doctors, nurses, embryologist, ultrasonographers and the entire team. Dr. Meyer is always available on email (and he will answer any question, no matter how ridiculous! ? – as i figured out from experience. It is very comforting to know that if you are in a panic (which will happen while going through this process) your doctor is available to answer your question without having to jump through hoops. I expected this time to be much calmer about the process and not have any “freakout” moments… not the case. Every step felt just as critical as the first time and the frozen transfer.

The IVF nurse, Meghan makes you feel comfortable and relaxed and you honestly feel like her only patient from the classes to the retrieval and transfer. She did everything to schedule my classes (i had to take 2), appointments around my work and travel schedule. She even called me one day to walk through a hypothetical schedule to ease my mind that it would all workout. Heather, the genius embryologist is so much fun to be around you forget what a stressful situation the whole process is. She remembers all of her patients and geniunely is concerned about their success.

I started my medications and after not responding as hoped after 5 days of (expensive) injections Dr. Couchman called me personally to recommend stopping the medications, canceling this cycle and starting over at the risk of having a less than desirable outcome. She was convinced that we could “do better” and she didn’t feel comfortable with me wasting anymore time or money on medications and a retrieval when the situation is not ideal. I was having a “freakout” moment because of my schedule with work and i was mentally prepared to be moving forward. She assured me that they would work around my schedule if at all possible. She was very honest and optimistic about starting fresh. So that is what we did and we tried a completely different regimen with different medications and wow, my response was better than 3 yrs ago! now i am 14 wks pregnant with twins and so far so good! My husband and I both always wanted 3 children but three years ago we gave up on that plan. I can’t believe we are in this position. thanks to the team at CC we have more excitement than we ever thought was possible.
